After yesterday’s self-imposed cabin fever, I decided that come hell or high water, I’d get out a walk this morning. I did, to St Mo’s. One of my favourite places if the light is right.  The colours are tending towards autumn now, but still enough colour contrasts to make life interesting. This was originally a very dark image

I lightened it in Lightroom and then added some enhancement in Intensify. Just shows what a lot of information is held in the NEF format.

… the startling eyes of the bread monster stare back!

One of those lazy Sundays when you know you should go out, but you equally know that you just can’t be bothered. It was this or another shot of carnations. This is at least slightly more creative.

This has been on my agenda to photograph again for some time. The last time I visited was during the summer, in June to be more precise. As we were lost for a place to visit today, I settled on Kincardine again. When we set out it was wall to wall blue skies, but after a few detours for lunch and shopping (Not ‘shopping, you understand. The devil is in the lack of the apostrophe!) we arrived just in time for the heavens to open. I managed to get this shot just before the rain came down in earnest.

This panorama was made in Autopano from 15 images. I like the distortion the wide angle lens has given to the panorama. Almost 180º in this.

Caught this purple stock trying to escape through the fence. Almost made it too.

We went to Linlithgow today. It’s been ages since we went there. The day was clear and sunny, so we took a picnic. Managed to get parked by the abbey, so we had a walk round it, just to be sociable. The view from the top of the tower was impressive, it cold. While we were wandering around I saw this bloke taking a rest from his maintenance duties and managed a useable shot.

Looking out towards Fannyside moss. I’d taken the 10-20mm Sigma and the D7000 out for a run today. After using the Oly for the last couple of weeks, it’s quite a difference carrying the Nikon kit. Much heavier, but much more solid too. I liked the way the shadows spread out, radiating from the trees. Strangely, I just checked and found that the photo I took on 1st Sept was from almost the same spot.

This one is beside the Forth & Clyde canal.

We went for a walk from Auchinstarry to Twechar along the old railway, then back along the canal towpath. For the first time in years, I caught a glimpse of a kingfisher on the banks of the canal. I wasn’t nearly quick enough to catch it on camera, but now I know it’s there still.

Back home in Scotland and at least 10ºc lower in temperature. This is one of the stuckies (starlings) that frequent our garden informing us that the peanut feeder is empty.

Another horrendous transfer from the hotel to the airport. Two and a half hours in a bus driving around Cala de Mallorca and Cala D’Or. About 15 pickups before we headed east to Palma. Too much! There has to be a better way than this.

Sitting on the tarmac at Palma airport waiting for over half an hour for one piece of paperwork before we could fly. The Spanish don’t make it easy do they? Maybe they just don’t want us to leave!
